The community picnic was initially funded with a grant from the Beers and Ideas night in July, and will have displays of emergency service equipment, live music, food stalls, and information on mental health services.
Organiser and veteran James Mepham said the picnic would be a great way to help former service personnel and their families make connections with the broader community.
"The spouse serves with the member, the whole family goes through the service experience and the transition to civilian life together," he said.
"Veterans tend to isolate themselves at home and in doing so can exacerbate post traumatic stress symptoms."
RSL Active organiser Adam Kent said it was important to help people stay healthy.
"Everyone is hearing about what we are doing in Warrnambool, what we are doing now is helping people to stay out of the cycle and to stay on top of their mental health," he said.
"The goal of RSL Active is to help healthy people stay healthy and we can help the RSL save a massive amount of money keeping veterans out of crisis.
"We want to keep working on the peer support network we are building."
The community picnic comes after a successful Veterans Retreat Weekend showing eight veterans and their partners around Warrnambool and the south-west, including a dinner with special guest speakers Don Spinks, the Department of Veterans Affairs commissioner, and veteran Harry Moffat, who served in the SAS for 20 years.
"Everyone was buzzing after the weekend, and the veterans have all been actively connecting on Facebook since they got home," Mr Kent said.
The RSL Active Community Picnic will relax into Saturday morning with a yoga session at 9am, followed by the main event starting at 10am.
