The 69-year-old made his debut for the club's division one mid-week team on its home green against Timboon Maroon on Tuesday after being promoted from the successful 2018-19 second grade side.
"We were strong last year and played in the final last year and got beaten but we have won a few before that in division one," Hunting told The Standard after Gold's victory.
"The division two won last year and we have two teams in division two this year and one in three and hopefully we will all do good.
"There are lack of numbers at the moment but we are sort of getting them now."
Hunting, who was third in Helen Lock's rink, said he enjoyed stepping out onto the green in division one for the first time in a mid-week game.
"It was good to play with some new people and playing with the ladies was very nice," he said.
"I have (played division one) in the Saturday competition and now on Tuesday we have a third side in and I was able to get a go in the top grade."

Hunting, who has played at Warrnambool Bowls Club for seven years, relished the chance to play alongside different faces in his new team on Tuesday.
"I have with a few of them and a couple of the ladies I haven't," he said.
"I have played with Laurie McLaren and Jane Rea before."
Hunting said the changes to mid-week pennant had helped the competition continue to run strong every Tuesday.
"It's the way it is and there wouldn't be a women's competition if it hadn't been changed as there is not enough women playing," he said.
"So they changed mid-week pennant and it was open slather and there are a lot of men playing today and that is right across the board."
Hunting and his Warrnambool Gold teammates are back in action next Tuesday when they travel to face Mortlake Blue.
