Haavard and Edvard Christie have co-written and directed their first feature film 'Hang On To Your Hanger-Ons' and based their production in their hometown of Hamilton.
Oldest brother Haavard hopes the crime-drama film entices many south-west locals to its opening night at Port Fairy's Reardon Theatre on Friday.
"We filmed 90 per cent of the film in Hamilton and a little bit in Warrnambool and the region," he said.
"I think people are really excited by the fact we can make a full-length film on this scale in regional Victoria."
The brothers are seasoned filmmakers, both dabbling in various aspects of the industry including editing and acting as well as directing and writing.
Haavard said their knowledge didn't come from mainstream approaches.
"We firmly believe you can learn everything you need through the internet and hands-on experience," he said.
"I did a Diploma of Screen and Media for one year, but hands-on is how I really learn."
Together, the brothers founded their own production company Hei Mary Productions and are behind a handful of short films and now a feature film.
Hang On To Your Hanger-Ons follows a retire dentist Douglas Huffel who's always wanted to be respected in his community.
He becomes involved in crime through a patient.
He manipulates a bottle shop robbery by planting his own money inside the store and subsequently his crime begins to catch up with him.
Filming in regional Victoria definitely had its challenges for the brothers but Hamilton remained the ideal location for the film.
"Most people we worked with were regular people, not actors, so they had other commitments with their jobs and families so it was difficult to streamline the film," Haavard said.
"We've done quite a few short films before so we brought a lot of people back to work with us again.
"We've picked up a lot of knowledge along the way working on different projects and our own
"Once people saw how committed we were, they jumped on board."
Hang On To Your Hanger-Ons recently sold out three showings in Hamilton.
The film will be showed at the Reardon Theatre in Port Fairy on Friday, October 25. .
