The Community Solar framework, developed by Leadership Great South Coast, will help community groups to assess their skills, develop necessary documentation and draw in the expertise to implement a solar photovoltaic project.
Project co-lead Sophie Baulch said they were hoping more community groups would implement solar projects in the region.
"We want to encourage the uptake of renewable energy and get community members involved in projects at a grassroots level," Ms Baulch said.
"We have tried to capture all of the information so groups don't have to start from scratch, bringing it all together into a simplified model."
The Community Solar project will help community groups install large photovoltaic panel arrays on host sites, who use the power generated during the day. The host site will then pay the community group for the energy used.
The free Community Solar information session is running at South-West TAFE from 6pm. Bookings can be made via Eventbrite.
