She said the cause of the outage was a bird that came into contact with a transformer on Balmoral Road in north Warrnambool around 7.45am this morning.
The initial outage affected 3490 Powercor customers in the Warrnambool district.
"Our crews were able to get 1000 customers back on by 8.20am, that left 2300 customers off. All customers were back on by 11.32am," the spokeswoman said.
She said wildlife was known to impact power in the region.
UPDATE, 10am: A wildlife incident led to almost 2500 Warrnambool and district customers losing their electricity supply this morning.
A Powercor spokeswoman said about 2500 customers lost power this morning just before 8am, with about 1000 customers now being back on line by 10am.
Electricity is expected to be back on about 12.30pm to the remaining customers.
Earlier: Electricity supply to much of Warrnambool, Woodford, Grassmere and Dennington has been cut this morning.
The Powercor website currently lists 2647 customers without electricity.
A Powercor spokeswoman was unable to provide details of the outage but has now started investigations.
It's understood there is no power to some schools.
More to come.
The outage comes as Powercor is about to face the Supreme Court sitting in Warrnambool over the Terang/Cobden bushfire on St Patrick's Day last year.
The trial is scheduled to start at 10.30am.
