A funeral service was held for Mr Burris at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Port Fairy on Friday.
The funeral took a turn in an unusual direction when it came to the means of transport to take Mr Burris to his final resting place at the Port Fairy Cemetery.
A hearse was not needed as Mr Burris' coffin was carried the short journey from the church to the cemetery on a carry-all on the back of a tractor. The tractor was driven by his son-in-law Daniel McLean.
Mr Burris' daughter, Louise Burris, said her father approved of the transport.
"He was pretty pumped when we asked him if he wanted to be taken to the cemetery on the tractor," Ms Burris said.
"He was a dairy farmer and worked hard all his life. He was a really generous man and would be anything to help anyone, he was a good bloke."
