The teen suffered punctured lungs, lost a couple of teeth and is expected to have major back surgery to fit steel rods in the middle section of his back.
He is listed as being in a a stable condition in The Alfred Hospital.
Police investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing and officers expect to talk with the young man later in his extensive recovery.
Blood samples were taken after he was transported to hospital.
Earlier: An investigation is under way into a motorcycle accident that saw a teenager airlifted to hospital.
The 19-year-old Port Fairy man was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital.
He was a stable condition with back injuries associated with the collision in the Port Fairy south beach area.
Police said his injuries were non-life threatening.
Paramedics were called to the Port Fairy incident around 11.15pm on Friday, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said. "A teenage male had fallen off his motorcycle. Paramedics treated him for back pain and he was taken to Warrnambool Base Hospital in a stable condition by road ambulance," she said.
