Portland police Acting Sergeant Jarrod Anderson said that at just before 3pm on Monday officers attempted to intercept the driver of a Holden Rodeo ute in Portland's Blair Street.
The driver refused to stop on police direction and that vehicle was later found abandoned along Amors Road in Cashmore, north-west of Portland.
"In the same area a silver Isuzu dual cab utility - registration plate number ZQV-737 - was stolen," he said.
"That 2013 duel cab with a hard silver canopy is still outstanding and we are keen to locate that vehicle.
"Inquiries are being made into the driver's identity."
Acting Sergeant Anderson requested that anyone with information about either of the offences contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Portland police station.
