Jessica Longmore, 27, said her $5000 grey Ford sedan was stolen early last Friday morning and the car was not insured.

It was found by police on Wednesday burnt out in a pine plantation near the Portland-Nelson Road at Winnap.

Worse still, her $600 pram, a gift from her grandparents, was still in the boot of her completely burnt out car.

Ms Longmore said she was now scared to return to her Hopetoun Road unit and fearful for the safety of her family, including nine-month-old son Logan and her partner.

"My car was broken into and my wallet stolen soon after Logan was born," she said.

"They stole $700 of my baby money and $300 I had for rent. I've been a bit paranoid since that and this is just so much worse."

Ms Longmore said fortunately she was not at home when the offender climbed in the window of her front bedroom and took her keys to steal the Ford sedan.

"The offender has had to go past baby stuff and the cot after they jumped through the window," she said.

"They could have just left the car and pram on the side of the road instead of burning it all.

"It's not nice at all. I hope karma gets the offender and they get caught."

The new mother said she was devastated to have lost her car.

"It just going to make being the mum of a nine-month-old son so much harder," Ms Longmore said.

"I've had the car seven years. It was the first car I bought. It was pretty new at the time.

"I just hope they catch whoever did it," she said.

Earlier: A 2007 grey Ford sedan stolen in Warrnambool after a home invasion has been found burnt out in a Portland district pine plantation.

Detective Acting Sergeant Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said a young Warrnambool couple with a baby had been left devastated by news their car was torched and dumped.

He said the the car was found in a pine plantation near the Portland-Nelson Road at Winnap and Warrnambool police were notified late on Wednesday.

A country Fire Authority from Gorae West attended the fire but the Ford was completely destroyed, including a $600 pram which was in the boot.

"The impact on these young people has been profound," Detective Acting Sergeant Ryan said.

"The young man is actively looking for work, they have a nine-month-old son and the car was not insured due to their tight financial circumstances.

"The young woman now has fears over their personal safety after an offender entered their Hopetoun Road home to steal the keys to the car."

Detective Acting Sergeant Ryan requested anyone with information about the stolen vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Warrnambool police station.

The home invasion happened in the early hours of last Friday morning.

Between midnight and 4am it's believed an offender entered through the window of an unoccupied front bedroom, went into the lounge room of the unit and took the keys to the vehicle.

The Ford was valued at about $5000.
