For Judy Williams, Claire Norman and Lois McKenzie, winning the Warrnambool Golf Club's Centenary Cup was the last thing on their mind.
But they did it.
The Warrnambool trio shot 59 in the women's three-ball-better-ball tournament to rise to the top of a 30-strong field on Wednesday.
Williams said the threesome, which had no competition experience, was "shocked" to clinch the prestigious cup.
"We were a bit shocked because we're still beginners in a way," she said.
"We're fairly high handicappers. We've not played this format before so we were a little bit shocked (to get over the line).
Williams and McKenzie picked up the clubs 18 months ago, while Norman has been playing "on and off for years".
Despite her experience, Norman revealed she'd only played socially and had never taken part in competition.
"We were here to participate and fill up the lower half of the field," Norman laughed.
"We all did well. Because we only needed one score out of the three of us for each hole, we took it in turns to have a decent score on each hole.
It was the same with the fairway hits and the putts. It was a real team effort.

"It was very fair of us, really."
In the three-ball-better-ball format, units of three individually play out each hole with the team's best score from the hole added to the overall scorecard.
The final total is a combination of the team's lowest scores on each hole.
Williams said the victory was achieved by sharing responsibilities.
She said there wasn't one sole contributing factor in their success.
"We sort of did well across the board. We had good drives between the three of us, at least one of us would have a good drive," Williams said.
"It was the same with the fairway hits and the putts. It was a real team effort."
The trio took the crown by one solitary shot - with their nearest rivals shooting 60 overall.

Warrnambool Golf Club ladies' captain Lauren Higgins congratulated the trio.
"They're three of our newer ladies so they will be absolutely thrilled with that," she said.
Higgins, whose team shot 69, said the tournament produced a high standard of golf.
"We had about 13 clubs playing - there were some good players from Stawell, Curlewis, and everywhere in between," Higgins said.
"I was very happy with the amount of players taking part."
