Dannika Slater-Parsons, 22, of North Wallacedale Road, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Tuesday where she made a self-represented bail application.
The court heard she was released from prison in mid-August after serving a six-month jail sentence.
That sentence was imposed after she headbutted a police officer while in custody for theft-related offences.
About two weeks after her release she allegedly stole from Hamilton shops and was arrested, charged and bailed with the condition she not enter the central business district of Hamilton.
Then on September 7, just four days later, she attended Hamilton's Target Country and allegedly stole a pair of pants.
She returned the following day wearing the stolen pants. She was observed leaving the store holding a pair of yellow sneakers and wearing a stolen pair on her feet.
A store manager asked her if she intended to pay for the shoes, to which she replied "I'm too poor".
The incident was reported to police and she was identified on CCTV footage.
The court heard Ms Slater-Parsons appeared drug affected at the time of the offending. She was arrested at Hamilton's Grand Central Hotel on Monday.
Ms Slater-Parsons told the court she should be released from custody because she had a job interview on Thursday.
"That will stop my offending further because I'll have the money I need to buy things, instead of stealing them," she said.
"It's going to help my future, getting this opportunity will set me up."
But magistrate Michael Coghlan said although it was nice she had an employment opportunity, it was not enough to satisfy him to release her on bail.
"You quite clearly have a significant addiction to drugs," he said.
"You served six months in jail and regrettably within two weeks of getting out you've started offending again."
Ms Slater-Parsons was remanded in custody and will appear in Hamilton Magistrates Court next week.
