Tickets for festival subscribers went on sale on Monday, with over 80 per cent of this first allocation sold.
Port Fairy Folk Festival ticketing manager Shane Lenehan said he expects the first batch of tickets will be closed off over the weekend.
"This first allocation is for our subscribers only," Mr Lenehan said.
"People can get an email subscription at our website so there is still time to do that and secure a cheaper ticket before we close off on the weekend."
The subscriber tickets are $255, with the price of the early bird tickets, which will be released on Monday to the general public, going to $275.
Two-day tickets will also go on sale on Monday, the first time in the history of the event such tickets have been available.
These tickets are for Friday-Saturday or Sunday-Monday and will cost $175.
Once the early bird allocation of tickets is exhausted, the final release will be on offer, with four-day tickets going to $295 and two-day tickets to $195.
Mr Lenehan said all up, there will be less than 1000 two-day tickets available.
The 2020 Port Fairy Folk Festival will be held on the weekend of March 6-9.
