Detective Sergeant Andrew Raven, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said power tools and chainsaws were stolen overnight on Saturday from the Bailey Street business.
In a separate burglary early Monday morning, thieves cut holes in the roof of the Rebel sport store on the eastern outskirts of Warrnambool.
Detective Sergeant Raven said the offenders entered through holes cut in the roof, kicked holes in the plaster ceiling and then tried to use a grinder to gain entry to a secured area.
That attempt was unsuccessful and the offenders left empty-handed.
"There was substantial damage caused to the building, expected to be valued at thousands of dollars," Detective Sergeant Raven said.
"We are requesting that anyone who saw anything at Timboon or near Rebel sport at Warrnambool to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
