About 4.30am on Sunday morning, the club's alarm was activated by someone, prompting police to respond.
When they arrived on scene, they discovered the offenders had gained entry via the rear of the club, dragged a chain indoors, wrapped it around a safe and pulled it out with a vehicle.
Detective Senior Constable Derek Verity said the building had been substantially damaged in the smash and grab raid.
"The damage bill could be up to between $70,000 and $80,000," Detective Senior Constable Verity said.
The safe was located dumped on the side of a road in Pomborneit.
Senior Constable Verity said it was believed several thousand dollars was stolen from the safe.
It's the fifth time the club has been broken into since 2014.
Detective Senior Constable Verity said police were reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
"If anyone saw anyone in the area at the time or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously, please contact Warrnambool CIU or Crime Stoppers," he said.
Detective Senior Constable Verity said police were kept busy on Monday, with a spate of break-ins reported.
"It's a busier than usual weekend," Senior Constable Verity said.
In the early hours of Monday morning, entry was gained to Rebel Sport in Warrnambool.
"The offenders gained entry through the roof," Senior Constable Verity said.
"They've attempted to cut into a safe but they weren't able to."
Detective Senior Constable Verity said the offender had left extensive damage to the roof. "They've cut multiple entry points in the roof," he said.
Nothing was reported stolen in the break-in.
Two homes in Mitchell Street were targeted on Saturday afternoon, with jewellery taken from both houses and the office at the transfer station was broken into.
