Brendan Craig Parsons, 29, pleaded guilty in a county court to seven charges, including sexual penetration of a child under 12, sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, causing a child under the age of 16 to be present during sexual activity, three counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child under the age of 16, and possessing child abuse material.
He was jailed for six years and three months, with a none-parole period of four years.
In December 2017 Parsons sexually assaulted a nine-year-old victim before making him watch pornographic material and other sexual activity involving Parsons.
A search warrant was conducted at the man's home on July 10, 2018. Police seized a mobile phone, two hard drives, a desktop computer, a tablet and a Working with Children Check belonging to the Parsons.
Victoria Police e-crime unit investigators located more than 200 images and videos of varying degrees of child abuse. The majority of the material was cartoon drawings and not recorded by Parsons.
Police also located on a hard drive documents containing stories about an incest father and his young child, and a toddler being raped by an adult. The author of those stories is not known.
Investigators found 27 images on Parsons phone, which included three photographs of the victim in his underwear. The phone also revealed stories written by Parsons about child abuse.
In an earlier court hearing, barrister Tania Bolton said Parsons suffered social awkwardness and used sexual activity to connect with people.
She said he was diagnosed with depressed mood disorder and pedophilic disorder.
