Paul Riley, owner Myrtle Bar and Kitchen, said the trivia night was part of a plan to create a more relaxed and welcoming environment.
"I love trivia nights, I always have," Mr Riley said.
"We are sticking our toe in the water.
"These night will be the first step in helping people feel they can com in and hang out with their friends."
The trivia night will be run in the venue's Cellar Bar, but may move upstairs if the event grows.
"We have capped it at seven teams of six people at the moment," Mr Riley said.
"The quiz is not for the die-hard masterminds, it is pretty lighthearted with lots of picture rounds and music questions.
"A little bit of healthy competition, you get to use your brain a little bit.
"It's just a bit of fun."
After celebrating the first anniversary of Myrtle Bar and Kitchen in May, Mr Riley now plans to hold a range of special events including 'anywhere dining' nights, where you can order a meal and eat in any space in the venue, and acoustic music nights.
Bookings for the Myrtle Bar and Kitchen Trivia Night can be made at the venue or through the Facebook page.
