The reigning premier, with players still to come back in, reversed momentum to defeat a high-flying Merrivale in Saturday's qualifying final.
Here, The Standard weighs up the Blues' flag chances as they chase their third premiership in four seasons.
THE LUKE WEEL FACTOR
There's a bloke plying a pretty good trade at Nirranda at the moment.
He's not a forward, and he's not a full-time midfielder (as we in the media often celebrate).
But his form could be crucial as Nirranda vies to defend its premiership.
Luke Weel is, without question, the best full back in the Warrnambool and District league.
His duel with superstar Merrivale coach Jason Rowan in Saturday's qualifying final was an example of what makes country footy enjoyable.
Luke Weel is the best full back in the Warrnambool and District league.
Two strong runners - who don't necessarily fit the traditional key position player mould - always put on a good show.
Weel is not your typical key defender. He's not the tallest bloke, but he has an uncanny ability to read the play.
Luke Weel is reason number one as to why Nirranda can win the flag.
THE PERFECT MIX
On-field leadership and experience is no issue for this club. There's almost a coach on every line.
Brayden Harkness marshals the back-line, Isaac Templeton and Peter McDowall are midfield generals and Gary Robinson leads the front six.
We know experience is crucial for finals campaigns and the Blues' spine is star-studded and seasoned.
Don't mistake that for a lack of mobility or running ability. Look to the flanks and you'll see where Shane Threlfall and Shane Quick's team defence game-style really flourishes.
Will Templeton, Daniel Threlfall, James Willsher, Dylan Lees, Danny Craven, Jason Lee... The list goes on.
The blend of experience and youth in the Blues' squad is the second reason why Nirranda can win the flag.
INJURY NO ISSUE
The Blues have one thing many country football sides struggle with - depth.
Despite missing Jack Primmer, Dylan Willsher and John Paulin with injury, they were able to draft in the returning Will Paulin and Johno Benallack to beef up their chances.
Although Merrivale, Kolora-Noorat and Old Collegians all do boast depth - Nirranda's could be telling.
Depth - the third and final reason Nirranda can lift the flag.
