There's a very high (95%) chance of showers, becoming less likely in the late morning.

We also have the chance of a thunderstorm early this morning, with possible hail during the morning and afternoon.

Winds will be south-westerly 30 to 40 km/h tending westerly 35 to 45 km/h in the middle of the day.

At 7am it was raining, just 4.5 degrees and felt like -0.6 and we've had 15.2mm of rain since 9am on Sunday.

Warrnambool is expecting a maximum of just 12 degrees, Hamilton in an even cooler 10, Colac 10, Ararat 10, Casterton 12, Mortlake 12, Heywood 13, Portland 13, Port Fairy 13, Terang 11 and Camperdown 10.

There's a marine strong wind warning for the west coast and sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds are expected during Monday.

Areas likely to be affected include the south-west, Northern Country, North Central, North East, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts and parts of the Wimmera and East Gippsland forecast districts.

There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

A cold and unstable west to south-westerly air stream will persist across the State until Wednesday as a series of cold fronts cross southern Victoria and a large high pressure system remains over southern WA.

The high will move over the Bight early on Thursday then be located near Adelaide by Thursday night.

For the next seven days Warrnambool is expecting showers with tops of 13 Tuesday and Wednesday, cloudy 12 Thursday, partly cloudy 14 Friday, more showers 14 on Saturday and showers 12 on Sunday.
