Bloods coach Michael Sargeant said Joe Arundell stopped a near-certain Cobden goal which would have put the Bombers up in the second quarter.

Momentum then swung the Bloods' way, helping them to a 15.6 (96) to 4.12 (36) victory.

Both sides now have three wins, along with Portland, with one Hampden league round remaining.

"There was a smother on the goal line and it went down the other end and we kicked a goal," Sargeant said.

"We got the next clearance and then got another goal and they dropped away a bit.

"They lost a bit of confidence, which is something we know all too well, and to our boys' credit we put the foot down and went for the kill."

Sargeant said it was Terang Mortlake's "most consistent game in terms of effort across the whole day" and praised Arundell, Jarryd Hay, Nick Couch and Gus Bourke for their performances.

Cobden coach Adam Courtney was at a lost to explain the Bombers' capitulation.

"After the last four or five weeks (where we've played well), it was just a really disappointing performance," he said.

"We were outplayed all day, absolutely smashed around the midfield and a lack of pressure in our forward line was telling too."

Ankle injuries were the theme of the day - Bloods' Matt Arundell and Ben Finnerty, who has been carrying a complaint, and Bomber Tomas Lindquist, were hurt.
