The Lava Street pole and aerials studio opened its doors to the public on Saturday following a refurbishment.

Warrnambool Physipole owner Jem Dyer said the studio had never had an official opening day in the five years since it opened.

"We've given the whole place a face lift, going from bright purple walls to more neutral tones and a new redecorated roof," she said.

Kids enjoyed two hours of free aerial mini classes before the adults were treated to pole demonstrations by existing students from 12pm.

Ms Dyer said there were about 95 students aged between 10 and 18, and a further 150 adult students.

"A huge majority of our students are kids which is definitely not what I expected when we first opened," she said.

"The kids are great because they have no fear, they do all of these crazy tricks and if they fall down they just get straight back up again."

Ms Dyer recently opened a second studio in South Australia. She said pole and aerial dancing was really booming.

"Especially in a regional town like Warrnambool," she said.

"You might have your usual ballet and dancing but this is something a bit different. We get a lot of gymnasts and calisthenics kids who just love doing acrobats in the air."

PhysiPole offers classes in aerial silks and hoops, exotic dancing and static and spin pole courses.
