Ms Gobbo told her handlers she went poking around in the office of Sharon Cure, now a Tasmanian magistrate, in 2007 and found papers she feared would expose her as a police informer.

She'd become upset with handlers in the months before, knowing that Williams had named her in a statement but her handlers hadn't told her.

Ms Gobbo had warned officers nothing he said was true, and threatened to write to Supreme Court Justice Betty King to tell her the claims were "bullshit".

Ms Cure was Williams' barrister at the time. In May 2007, Justice King had sentenced him to 35 years in prison for three underworld murders.

Handlers recorded that Ms Gobbo went "looking around" in Ms Cure's chambers in June and found prison call records for an underworld witness Ms Gobbo both represented and helped implicate.

The records, obtained by subpoena, showed daily contact with Ms Gobbo and with police.

"She's annoyed about this as she was reassured that these records could never be obtained and she says that she's now got no faith in the system when she sees things like this ... ," Ms Gobbo's handlers noted.

Ms Gobbo claimed she knew Williams' statement named her as an associate of former policeman Paul Dale.

In the same statement Williams implicated Mr Dale in the 2004 execution-style murders of Terence and Christine Hodson.

Williams had claimed he acted as a go-between for Mr Dale to arrange the killings with hitman Rodney Collins, allegedly because Mr Hodson had turned informer against Mr Dale over a 2003 drug stash house burglary.

Ms Gobbo also told her handlers at the time that she "feels guilty about Hodsons because she told people that Terry was an informer".

A senior handler, known as Sandy White, told the inquiry into police informers that it was suspected Ms Gobbo had taken an information report identifying Mr Hodson as an informer - believed stolen by Mr Dale - and passed it to underworld figures including Tony Mokbel or Carl Williams.

Mr Dale denies stealing the documents. Burglary charges against him were dropped when the Hodsons died.

He was charged with the double murders in 2009, but those charges were dropped after Williams was murdered in jail in 2010.

It was also revealed on Wednesday that Ms Gobbo sought rewards for her informing, including tickets to a Lionel Richie concert. She also dropped hints about Cher and the Rolling Stones.

At one stage she told handlers that Victoria Police owed her $5.3 million for her time.

Instead she was taken out for dinner and presented with a pen.

"I think she later called it a stinking pen," Mr White said.
