Roosters mentor Mat Battistello contributed part of his side's 9.8 (62) to 6.7 (43) loss to Camperdown on its attacking end of the ground.

"I thought we played reasonably well in the first half and dominated inside 50 but couldn't get any ascendancy on the scoreboard," he said.

"In the third quarter it (the weather and ground) became heavier and Camperdown played extremely well.

"We let them get some goals through 50-metre penalties, which ultimately cost us the game as we played reasonably well in the last quarter as well."

Battistello said the problem had a simple solution.

"It's not just goal kicking it's that forward-half system and we had enough looks at it but we weren't able to capitalise so it's more the zero-40 entries that we need to look at," he said.

South's next two matches are against Warrnambool and North Warrnambool Eagles.

The Roosters hold on fifth spot is not yet secure with Hamilton Kangaroos, who play the Eagles and Port Fairy in the last two weeks, breathing down its neck.

The two teams are locked on 32 points but South Warrnambool's superior percentage means it is in the hot seat to claim fifth.

Camperdown co-coach Neville Swayn said the Magpies are eager to continue the winning streak for the final two games against Portland and Cobden.

"It's important that we finish the year strong," he said. "(Our form recently) is probably more reward for the work they (the players) had done over the last four to five weeks.

"We've played some good sides and good footy but haven't been able to get results. We want more rewards for the group and hopefully we can finish strongly in the next few weeks."

The Magpies are currently in seventh spot with five wins and 11 losses.
