Portland police were called about midnight after the driver, aged in his 30s, was driving erratically in the area.
Sergeant Andrew Dunlop said the driver had been doing donuts on the lawn outside the Dartmoor football ground and then deliberately drove through the closed gates at the ground, causing $1000 damage.
The incident was witnessed by members of the football club who were attending a function at the clubrooms, Sergeant Dunlop said.
The man will be charged on summons with a range of driving offences.
