She will be in the city at the end of the month as part of an Amnesty International Warrnambool group event and will share her story and challenge some community views on refugees.

Group member Greta Perry said Ms Alfayadh was in high demand

"Her story is a powerful one. She travels Australia telling it," she said.

"Instead of preaching to the converted, Fadak is hoping to convince the persuadable group, which are those people in the middle who don't hold a firm position, on the plight of refugees.

"You can't but think about putting yourself in her position and in her shoes in a war zone with bombs dropping day and night, not knowing if your extended family is alive."

Ms Perry said it was a basic human right to seek refuge.

"Hearing Fadak's story will not only touch hearts but also mindsets," she said.

"We have got to change. We have to start thinking about each other.

"We can't do it alone."

The 26-year-old was recently invited to speak at the United Nation's assembly.

"That just shows the high-standing she has," Ms Perry said.

"I'm hoping that people who meet her and hear her story will understand the hardship she and other refugees go through and know that we are all human beings.

"We just want people to come along and listen and be informed."

She said what the federal government was imposing on refugees on Manus Island and Nauru was cruel.

"I have no idea who thinks up these cruel things to do to people who have fled a war-torn city, village, town where there is nothing but rubble," she said.

Ms Alfayadh will speak on August 31 at Warrnambool's Uniting Church Hall from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

"It is non-denominational," Ms Perry said.

"Anyone can come along. We are thrilled Fadak can come to Warrnambool.

"She is not getting paid, she is doing it because it's her passion to educate people."
