Portland police have warned residents they are monitoring social media commentary after a 25-year-old man was charged with murder this week following a fatal stabbing.

On Tuesday Portland's Cameron Oakley was charged with the murder of Lachlan Hutchins, 24.
Mr Oakley has been remanded in custody until December after an incident at the Henty Street toilet block soon after midnight on Monday.
Those circumstances have led to an outpouring of grief and commentary on social media - specifically Facebook.
Detective Sergeant Jason von Tunk, of the Portland police crime investigation unit, described a lot of the commentary as "chest beating".
"There has been plenty of talk and chatter, a lot of chest beating," he said.
"Trolls getting on Facebook and saying things doesn't mean anything is going to happen. It's not unusual in the circumstances and it was not unexpected.
"If we were to take everything said on Facebook seriously there would not be enough police in the world to investigate."
Detective Sergeant von Tunk said police were not concerned but were monitoring the social media commentary.
"People need to be aware that if threats are made on social media than they could be investigated by police and potentially charged with making those threats," he said.
"You would be silly to think police are not monitoring these sites."
