Andrew Francis Parsons, 19, of Merrivale Drive, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday to charges, including drug trafficking, possessing methamphetamine, handling stolen goods and weapon and assault-related offences.
He was sentenced to two months' jail and placed on a 15-month community corrections order with conditions he do 100 hours of unpaid community work, and drug treatment and rehabilitation.
He was taken into custody where he told police he had a bag of methamphetamine hidden in his sock.
Police located a zip lock bag containing 0.32 grams of ice.
Parsons was brought back to the court about one hour later, where he was fined $200 for possessing the illicit substance.
Lawyer Felicity Fox said Parsons' offending revealed his immaturity, naivety and lack of ability to come to terms with his own offending.
She said he had been forthcoming with police on Monday and would benefit from drug rehabilitation upon his release from prison.
On December 27 a female victim found concerning messages on Parsons' phone and woke him up in an attempt to speak with him.
Parsons was angry and began hitting and kicking the victim. He grabbed a broken pool cue and hit her several times over her body, leaving deep black and purple bruises.
He hit her over the head with a machete still in the sheath and then attempted to strangle her with a piece of wire.
Parsons continued to intimidate the victim by tapping a knife on the bedside table as she packed her things and left. The victim did not immediately report the offending because she was fearful of the man.
The court heard that after the break down of a relationship, Parsons began selling ice in order to fund his own drug use.
But, he told police he was "no good" at selling so he instead offered two co-accused to deal from his house and pay him with drugs.
In a search warrant executed at his home on April 14 police located a small amount of cannabis, a tick list and two firearms with the serial numbers removed.
He was also found in possession of a yellow Suzuki motorcycle stolen from Melbourne's Southbank on May 22.
