Warrnambool City youth council are focusing on their future and working to bring the rest of the community along for the ride.
Youth council member Ben Pennington, 16, said the youth council members are planning a free screening of 2040 on September 18.
2040 is the new documentary by writer/director Damon Gameau, who made That Sugar Film.
"The 2040 film promotes the sustainable future the world can drive to using the materials we have available now," Ben said.
"We also want to screen the film because it directly links to the Warrnambool 2040 strategy the council is putting out."
"The film is more positive, saying 'with what we have now we can make a difference and fight this'.
"It's us that have to be making decisions now to impact the future.
"I will be 37 when we get to 2040."
Youth council member Andrew Pritchard, 17, said the film feels hopeful.
"It is the same That Sugar Film, I imagine it will be as impactful as that was."
2040 will screen at 7pm on September 18 in Warrnambool's Lighthouse Theatre. Environmentally-friendly transport expert Ben Rossiter, executive officer for Victoria Walks, will be a guest speaker.
Details about the free tickets will be posted on the W2040 facebook page in September.
