Robinson, who hasn't played a senior match since early June due to injury and unavailability, kicked a goal in the reserves on the weekend.

He would join a senior side that is coming off a convincing 14.11 (95) to 5.7 (37) victory over South Rovers at Walter Oval.

Co-coach Shane Threlfall confirmed Robinson was in the mix for the first versus second battle with the Power.

The Blues mentor said his side couldn't wait for the blockbuster.

"They're the benchmark of the competition at this stage and we had a cracking game against them last time - it was a two-point game," he said.

"We'd really like to put on a good show next week and see how we match up against the best.

"I don't think there is much separating us on the ladder so I think we're playing for top spot which is a good challenge for our boys."

The Blues face a team that has lost one match and just pumped Dennington to the tune of 173 points.

But they will take confidence from their nine-match winning streak and a strong win against South Rovers.

Nirranda started well but the Lions were up to the task in windy conditions.

Adam Matheson's men kept themselves in it with some accurate goal-kicking.

South Rovers had the breeze in the second quarter but could only manage one major.

It hurt because the Blues kicked four goals to zip in the third quarter and essentially ended the Lions' hopes of finals.

Matheson knew the second quarter was costly.

"The first half we were pretty good, we didn't take our chances in the second term, we should have been a little bit closer at half-time," he said.

But the Lions mentor was pleased with his team's endeavour.

"We cracked in all day," he said.

"But they were just a bit more polished and a little bit fitter than us and their ball-use was pretty good into the breeze as well," he said.

Matheson said his side would need to bring a four-quarter effort against third-ranked Merrivale next week.

"Our good football is good enough, but we just can't seem to sustain it for long enough," he said.

"So we'll try and put four quarters together because that's the only way you can win against top-three teams."

The Lions were under pressure from the outset with a host of late withdrawals including Dechlan Picken with hamstring tightness.
