Fresh from an impressive victory in the Thackeray Steeplechase at Warrnambool on July 17 on the back of a win in a steeplechase Casterton in June, Police Camp lines up against top jumper Wells in the Mosstrooper which is a set-weights and penalty race.

Ryan said Police Camp was too close to Wells in the weights to win the 3500-metre race.

"The weight scale in the Mosstrooper suits Wells," the former jumps jockey-turned-trainer said.

"For his two wins at Casterton and in the Thackeray, Police Camp has jumped up from a 115 rater to a 133 rater.

"He's gone up in four kilograms in weight and is only giving Wells two kilograms.

"Wells has nearly won $1 million in stakemoney over the jumps while my bloke has won $135,000.

"We're just too close to Wells in the weights. We're going to be better suited in the Grand National Steeplechase at Ballarat in a few weeks that's Police Camp's goal."

Ryan believes Police Camp's stablemate Dormello Mo is a better chance of defeating Wells in the jumps feature on Sunday.

"I just think Dormello Mo is going to get conditions to suit," he said.

"He's been a bit unlucky in a couple of steeplechase races this season. I must admit the 3500 metres is as far as he wants to go. I suppose the distance is my major concern with Dormello Mo."

Six jumps races are programmed on the ten race card at Pakenham.

The other feature is the Drechsler Hurdle.

Aaron Purcell's jumper Double Bluff is going for his third consecutive jumping win in the $100,000 race.
