Every training session she completes for the Blues' Deakin University Female Football League she hears about her dad's influence.
"(Under 18 co-coach) Gerard (Duynhoven) is always saying 'the seniors do this, the seniors do that'," she joked.
The father-daughter team is enjoying its time at the Blues.
Matt has guided Warrnambool to an 11-1 win-loss record thus far in his second season at the helm while Molly will play her first DUFFL final on Sunday when the Blues meet Stawell Warriors in an elimination final.
Matt, who played four seasons with VFA club Box Hill, said it was pleasing to see the second youngest of his five children enjoying football.
Molly, 17, has played all three DUFFL seasons with the Blues.
"Molly has great stamina in her game which is probably a strength of hers," Matt said.
"She runs very hard and just gets around the footy.
"She's enjoyed the training, enjoyed the coaching and is getting along really well with the other girls.
"Enjoying the game so much just leads to good improvement."
Matt believes Molly's development reflects that of the entire league.
"The whole competition has improved a lot, it's a lot more even and the ball is moving a lot quicker," he said.
"The skills of all of the girls in all of the teams have improved out of sight, their ability to pick the ball up, there's a lot less packs now, and their kicking, marking, handballing, all the fundamentals have improved."
Molly is enjoying the challenge and believes Lucy and Sarah Moloney, Catie Ragg, Gabby Hearn and Victoria McPhee, who "only started this year but she's been really strong", will play crucial roles against the Warriors.
"We'll have to work pretty hard. We've done a good job to get here and it's pretty exciting," she said.
South Warrnambool, which finished top, will play Horsham Demons on Sunday for a direct passage to the grand final. Both games are at Hamilton's Pedrina Park.
