Wormald, who also plays netball for Hampden club Warrnambool Blues, chalked up 15 points in her first appearance for the Mermaids since late May on Sunday.
She top-scored in the 96-57 defeat to Casey Cavaliers at the Arc.
It was just her ninth game for the season.
Plantar fasciitis has hindered her output.
Wormald said it felt good to represent the Mermaids - a side she's won division one and two championships with - again.
"I have only been playing netball for a while, so it felt good to switch it up and have a bit more freedom," she said.
"I have got a tear in my plantar fascia and I have been resting for a while and it felt really good yesterday at netball so I thought 'why not'.
"I think that might be my last game for the season. It's been fun but difficult and frustrating for me personally with injury."
Wormald's teenage teammate Juina Lual was effective, scoring 14 points off the bench for the championship grade team which is still searching for its first win in the Big V's top tier with two games remaining.
"She hit some shots, got to the basket and finished," she said.
"It's something she's been working on because she can get there, she's just got to reward herself. She's going to have a bright future."
The Mermaids' final two games are on the road.
