There was a decrease in the number of sheep and lambs offered at Hamilton this week, back to 5867, a reduction of 2428.
The quality was mixed, below the quality of livestock offered last week.
Not all the regular buyers attended or operated and there was some restocking competition on the better bread lambs, the light 1 and 3 score lambs below 14kg recovering some of last week's decreases, but generally the market was unchanged to firm.
Lightweight 12-18kg lambs, 1 and 2 score sold from $120 to $150/head.
The medium 18-22kg 3 and 4 score lambs made from $128 to $187/head, averaging 890c/kg cwt.
Heavy weight 22-26kg 3 and 4 scores made from $187 to $255, with the majority making closer to 1,000c/kg cwt this week.
Extra heavy 4 score lambs topped at $282/head.
Sheep numbers this week close to halved, with a good selection of heavy crossbred ewes, but the majority of the Merino mutton was between 1 and 2 score for the majority and sold firm on last week.
Light 1 and 2 scores made from $48 to $132 and the medium weight 2 and 3 scores received from $120 to $154, extra heavy sheep making from $150 to $194/head.
Hoggets made to $165 and rams reached $150/head.
