The midfielder's father Stephen - affectionately known as Shorty - is the Roosters' senior games record-holder with 319 matches, including three premierships. He is also a Hampden league Hall of Fame member.

"I think it's a great reward for the Anderson family to have not only fathers, uncles but now sons and cousins involved, it's what the club is about," Finn said.

"No doubt growing up as a young Rooster or as a mascot he was wanting to play senior footy at South and win a flag and I think he is a real chance over the next few years."

The 22-year-old, who was selected on Box Hill Hawks VFL list this season, made his debut in 2014 and played 17 games in his first year.

The left-footer, who lines up against Koroit on Saturday, is a third of the way to his father's exploits and is forming a big part of an emerging Roosters side under first-year mentor Mat Battistello.

Finn, who coached Warrnambool and District league side Kolora-Noorat, has been pleased by what Anderson has shown.

"Having not seen him over the past four years his development has been outstanding," he said.

"For him to make a VFL list and to commit to travelling back to South is a great indication of the bloke he is."

Finn has seen Anderson begin to find his best form in recent weeks.

"Paddy's strength is covering the ground and this year he has had a few injuries but last week against Hamilton was his best game," he said.

"He was able to win some important stoppages and his ability to get onto his left and use his penetrating kick is what separates him from other players.

"The next challenge for him is finding consistency and hopefully the next six weeks can string a few strong games together."

Koroit's Liam Hoy and Jarrod Korewha will play their 50th senior games in the match against the Roosters.

Coach Chris McLaren said it was "nice for those boys" to rack up their first major milestone at the club.
