Hamilton police have urged residents to lock their doors after a number of burglaries and thefts in the north of the city, near Lake Hamilton.

Detective Senior Constable Roger McClure, of the Hamilton police crime investigation unit, said there had been a number of break-in during the past couple of weeks in that area.
Early Tuesday morning an offender entered two homes in Hensley Park Road about 2am.
He was disturbed in both homes and fled empty-handed.
"There's been a couple of other burglaries in that same area recently - Ansett Street, Cross Street, Milton Street and Gray Street.
"A Stihl chainsaw was stolen from one property and we believe all that offending may be related
"It's all the same sorts of offending, entering unlocked premises in the search of goods.
"The woman disturbed while she was home with her young child in Hensley Park Road was very ordinary and they were left frightened."

Detective Senior Constable McClure said anyone with information about the crimes was requested to contact the Hamilton police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sergeant Mark Phillips said a 50-year-old Hamilton man was arrested, interviewed, charged and bailed on Wednesday after a theft of a $30 tool at the Aldi supermarket.
"He was wanted on a warrant and for the theft," he said.
"He and another man were captured on security camera footage, identified and there's an active investigation in relation to the other man," he said.
