Deakin University Female Football League will host AFL Goldfields at Mortlake's D.C Farran Oval on Thursday.

DUFFL co-coach Fraser Robinson said the contest, which will start at 2pm, was a chance for under 18 players to test themselves at a higher level.

"It will showcase the league and we will get to see where we stand against Ballarat," he said.

"We haven't trained because it's such a big distance between Timboon and Horsham and Stawell and it was a bit late when we found out about all this happening.

"Whereas with Ballarat, you only have to travel 15 to 20 minutes and you're all together.

"I'd imagine they've been training together so I am not expecting a whole lot out of it but it is more about the experience for the girls.

"It is basically 17 and 18, the top-age girls, so some of them will be leaving this year and if they want to step into the adult football, it is a stepping stone for them."

Robinson, who co-coaches Hamilton Kangaroos' under 18 female side, said playing at D.C Farran Oval would help bring out the players' skills.

"It's a big oval, they say it's the same size as the MCG which puts it in perspective," he said.

"There will be plenty of room for the girls to move and whatnot and it won't be as crowded which is a good showcase I reckon."

Cobden's Laura Weston, Stephanie Pride and Ella Angus, South Warrnambool's Stella Bridgewater, Ceeara Rantall, Layla Wilson, Maddison Giblin and Madison Heyden, Warrnambool's Abbie Cozens, Molly O'Brien, Hannah Owen, Martina Da Ros and Lucy Moloney, Hamilton Kangaroos' Maddison Kaine and Chloe Landwehr, Terang Mortlake's Brodie Humphrey and Taylah Casson, Old Collegians' Brooke Sanderson and Maggie Johnson and Portland's Emmason Ilsley and Caitlin Storrie will play for DUFFL alongside players from Horsham Demons, Horsham Saints and Stawell.
