Numbers remain strong, with agents penning an extra 55 cattle from last week's sale. The bulk of the yarding was comprised of cows, with limited numbers of plain beef yearlings and grown cattle available. The regular field of buyers were present, operating in a dearer market across all categories.
A small number of veal sold from 214c to 280c/kg. Feedlot and restockers dominated the small yearling category, with feeder steers and heifers making from 216c to 260c/kg. The bulk of yearlings being dairy bred made from 100c to 183c/kg. A small number of finished grown heifers were available to processors, receiving from 280c to 285c, with good numbers of dairy heifers making from 185c to 260c/kg.
Prices ignited again in the cow run, with price lifts over all weights and grades, as some outstanding dairy cows reached 280c/kg. Heavy 4 score beef cows lifted 10c, making from 255c to 280c/kg. Dairy cows with cover increased 3c to 41c, receiving from 222c to 280c/kg. The lighter D1 cows lifted up to 14c, making from 190c to 222c/kg.
A good quality run of bulls were available to the usual buying group, selling in a strong market, lifting 6c to 20c/kg. Bulls with shape sold from 240c to 258c and the best of the dairy portion made 250c/kg.
