Police are investigating the theft of a chainsaw worth $1300 from a Colac property.

Detective Senior Constable Stuart Sims, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said an unknown offender stole the Husqvarna battery powered chainsaw from an unlocked wooden shed in Scott Street.
He said the owner believed the chainsaw was stolen in the past five days.
"People have got to be vigilant. Make sure your sheds are locked," Senior Constable Sims said.
He said police processed the crime scene on Saturday.
