Warrnambool Racing Club racecourse manager Daniel Lumsden said the track will be rated a heavy 10 following plenty of rain during June.
"We've had 42mls of rain in the last week on the back of lots of rain in June," Lumsden said.
"The track will be a heavy 10 but it will be safe for winter racing. The early indications were there may be rain on Saturday but looking at the weather radar it seems to have gone away.
"The weather bureau is predicting some rain for Sunday we've got our fingers crossed if the rain comes it will be late in the day."
The time-honoured Thackeray Steeplechase, one of the two feature races on the program, will be run through the open paddocks at the famous course.
"The open paddocks are pretty heavy but safe for jumps racing," Lumsden said.
"We've got a maiden steeplechase and the Thackeray going through the paddocks.
"Having jumping races through the paddocks is the point of difference for our meetings. It's a wonderful spectacle for the patrons."
The running rail will be in the true position for the first time since the May carnival and will offer fresh ground for the horses.
"The running rail had been out nine metres at our last few meetings as we were saving the inside ground for this meeting," Lumsden added.
A maiden hurdle is the opening race and will start at 11.30am.
