A range of south-west residents have been recognised with NAIDOC Week awards at the opening ceremony on Warrnambool's Civic Green.

More than 150 people enjoyed a performance from the Gunditjmara Karrweeyn dancers before the awards were presented.
Daphne Lowe and Wayne Harradine received the female and male elder of the year awards.
Mrs Lowe said she was very surprised to receive the award.
"I am so proud," she said.
The female young person of the year award was given to Caitlyn Harradine, 17, after being nominated by the staff at Warrnambool Police Station where she is completing a school-based traineeship.
The male young person of the year award was awarded to participants in the Koko Blokes, a program to help mentor indigenous boys aged between 7-17 and help keep them out of the legal system.
Allan Miller and Tanya McDonald were recognised as the community members of the year.
