Sargeant told the Bloods' players after their 19.19 (133) to 7.4 (46) defeat to Warrnambool on Saturday.

He will see out the remainder of the Bloods' 2019 Hampden league campaign and has vowed to remain involved with the club in some capacity.

Sargeant, a father to Daisy, 4, and Paddy, 11 months, is a former Bloods player and has strong ties to the club.

"My life is the Terang Mortlake footy club so I am not going anywhere, it's just with two kids and two businesses on the go, it's getting a bit much," he said.

"Three years is enough for me, which was already decided before the season, but it's now out there officially to try and get the (club's) name out that we're having discussions with coaches."

Sargeant has seven games remaining in the top job and wants to finish on a positive note. The Bloods have won just two of nine games this season.

"I am more determined than ever to win games of footy, that's plain and simple," he said.

"For me, I am not putting the cue in the rack, I am determined to win more games to give the next coach to come in a bit of momentum."

Terang Mortlake was just five points down at half-time against Warrnambool before the Blues kicked 13 goals to one in the second half.

"I think that is our most disappointing loss of the year to be honest," Sargeant said.

"The first half to play so well, that's the brand we've been trying to play and have been playing for last month, and then to dish up that in the second half is pretty disappointing.

"They smashed us around the ball whereas in the first half we smashed them around the ball.

"It was a completely different game."

The Hampden league has a competition-wide bye next weekend.

Sargeant said the Bloods needed to work hard during the break.

"We'll have Tuesday night off - we have a few sore boys - but I don't think we can afford to have anymore time off, we have to get back to work and review the footage," he said.

"I might get them to watch the third quarter, that's when the wheels fell off."
