The timeline for the project will be tight with expectations the project will be finished in time for the famous three-day May Racing Carnival just weeks later.
Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive officer Peter Downs said he was delighted with the progress of the works, which were the biggest infrastructure investment at the club in the last 20 years.
"Things are coming together really well," Downs said.
"The redevelopment is a very big job.
"We had some dramas regarding underground power and other utilities but that is all behind us now.
"We always knew we were operating on a close deadline to the carnival.
"The builders are aware of the deadlines, they're working around the clock to ensure the works will be complete by the time of next year's carnival."
Downs said the project would link the Matilda Room to the members grandstand.
"The new facility should be a big bonus not only for racing but for the general public as we will be able to cater for 1000 people at functions," Downs said. A new ground floor cafeteria and presentation bar will be built behind the existing mounting yard.
The project also includes upgrades to kitchen, bar, viewing deck and other amenities.
The club will put in interim marquee facilities and use the old members grandstand for patrons at the up-coming big jumps meeting on July 7, which features the $100,000 Thackeray Steeplechase and Lafferty Hurdle.
It will also use the temporary facilities for the Port Fairy, Woodford and Koroit Cup days in December and January plus the Jericho Cup meeting in December.
The club is stumping up the majority of the cash for the project through reserves and borrowings after the early estimates of $3.6 million rose to $4.9 million. The federal government granted $1.25 million, Racing Victoria and the state government $300,000 each towards the project.
