Numbers declined, with the bulk of the yarding made up of the regular mixed quality cows. Yearling cattle were scarce, with the quality types returning to feed.
The additional processor from last week joined the regular field of winter buyers, again operating in a fluctuating market.
Feedlot and restockers stepped into the best of the yearlings, with a pen of good C muscled steers reaching 274c, while the bulk of the D and C muscled yearlings made from 170c to 250c/kg.
A few heavy manufacturing bullocks were offered, with the beef portion reaching 242c and the best of the dairy making 233c/kg. The good offering of dairy and beef cows sold in a fluctuating market.
Heavy 3 and 4 score beef cows eased up to 3c, making from 200c to 235c/kg.
The best of the dairy portion decreased 2c, making up to 214c, with the very light 1 score cows receiving from 139c to 188c, lifting up to 4c/kg.
Bulls sold to the usual buying group today, with better shapes making from 230c to 246c, lifting 6c, as the better dairy portion reached 196c, easing 8c/kg.

Numbers declined to 223 this week at Ballarat in a mixed yarding, with cows making up over 50 per cent of the yarding.
The usual buying group plus some extra export competition operated in a primarily stronger market. Young cattle numbers were limited, with yearling steers to the trade making to 300c/kg.
Steer vealers sold to feeders and restockers up to 302c/kg.
Grown heifers sold 10c dearer, making to 250c/kg. Well covered cows made to 251c, as cows generally sold 10c to 30c/kg stronger on last week. Heavy beef bulls made to 223c, as restockers paid to 254c/kg. The numbers comprised 120 cows, 34 steers, 51 heifers, 23 bulls and some open auction young cattle.
Vealers and yearlings sold to the trade from 238c to 300c, as D2 types reach 200c/kg. Feeders and restockers paid from 238c to 302c, as D muscle young cattle sold from 160c to 216c/kg. The few light weight grown steers sold to 281c and feeders paid to 238c/kg. Medium and heavy weight grown heifers made from 220c to 250c/kg. Plainer D muscle heifers sold from 142c to 180c/kg.
Restockers and feeders paid from 136c to 220c/kg. Cows sold to stronger competition, with heavy C muscle 3 and 4 scores receiving from 195c to 251c/kg. D muscle 3 and 4 scores sold from 180c to 250c/kg. D muscle 2 score cows made from 160c to 185c/kg.
Medium weight D2 and D3 score cows sold from 120c to 211c, as the D1 cows made from 120c to 150c/kg. Light D and E muscle cows sold from 80c to 110c/kg.
Restockers paid from 170c to 250c/kg. Heavy beef bulls sold similar to last week, making from 154c to 223c/kg.
NARACOORTE CATTLE
June 18. Yarding: 4818. Change: down 2603. Lambs: 3810. Change: down 2297. Sheep: 1008. Change: down 306.
Numbers eased as agents yarded 3810 lambs and 1008 sheep to total 4818 head overall.
These sold to a slightly smaller field of trade and processor buyers, with a restocker also present and active. All weights and categories were on offer among the mixed offering, with less demand from the buying group leading to easier prices over most of the sheep and lambs.
Light weight lambs to the trade varied from $55 to $158, with the light weight trade 2 and 3 score selection making from $144 to $168/head. Restockers sourced lambs to grow on sold from $97 to $150/head.
Trade weight 3 score lambs saw less demand this week to return prices from $151 to $204/head, or approximately from the 850c to 880c/kg cwt area.
Heavy lambs sold from $198 to $230 as the extra heavy export weighted types made from $232 to a market high of $287/head.
Hoggets varied from $92 to $160, with light ewes making from $76 to $122/head.
Medium weighted ewes sold from $122 to $149, with the heavy ewes receiving from $160 to $200, as all ewes eased $3 to $5/head.
Light wethers sold from $118 to $126, with the heavier selection making from $139 to a high of $215, as rams returned prices from $50 to $145/head.
