O'Hallorans real estate agent Brian Hancock said an auction was held on Friday afternoon at the Kirkstall Hotel for almost 30 hectares of prime land off Bruces Road.
"About 70 people attended. Five bidders, both locals and from out of the district, opened at $4000 per acre and jumped in $100 increments to the $5100 selling price for a total of $374,439," he said.
"The auction was in the warm and cosy Kirkstall Hotel. The fire was going and everyone appreciated that."

Mr Hancock said the auction was well attended.
"It's believed to be a new record price for that area and was bought by a local grazier," he said.
"Both the vendor and the agents were delighted with the result. In the current environment, with livestock prices high, there's a lot of confidence.
"People are looking for those parcels of land."
