Patrick Gavin, 49, of Ocean Grove, did not make a bail application in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody until August 5.
Mr Gavin has burglary and theft charges already listed to be heard that day.
He has now been charged with seven new offences after an incident in east Warrnambool on Tuesday afternoon/evening.
Earlier: A Warrnambool man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman to the face and trying to drown her in a shower.
Warrnambool police Sergeant Dave McDonald said this morning an intervention order was in place but the 49-year-old man went to the woman's home about 4.30pm on Tuesday.
He said the man allegedly abused the woman, threatened to kill her and she retaliated by throwing a bottle at him .
It's claimed the man was then grabbed the woman around the throat before the argument de-escalated.
About 7pm there was another argument and the woman contacted Warrnambool police.
The woman claimed that at the height of the argument the man took hold of a steak knife and stabbed her near the nose/eye area causing a significant wound.
The alleged victim attempted to defend herself and fight off the man who also suffered deep lacerations to his right hand.
The woman also claimed the man used a hand-held shower rose to force water down her throat in an attempt to drown her.
Sergeant McDonald said that when police arrived at the home the woman was saturated and sitting in front of a heater.
Police and ambulance officers attended.
The man was treated at the property and then arrested.
The woman was taken to the Warrnambool Base Hospital for assessment and treatment suffering a suspected broken nose.
A knife was seized by police and the home photographed.

Sergeant McDonald said the woman had not made a signed statement to police because she was fearful of repercussions.
The man has refused to cooperate with police, allegedly spat at police officers and refused to be interviewed.
He has been charged and remanded in custody to appear at a bail/remand hearing in Warrnambool Magistrates Court this morning.
The man was already on bail, charged with theft and burglary last week, and was due to appear in court on August 5.
He has now been charged with recklessly causing injury, breaching an intervention order, making a threat to kill, unlawful assault, assault with a weapon and bail offences.
