Four millimetres of rain fell in Warrnambool since 9am on Tuesday, 4.4 in Port Fairy, 8.6 in Mortlake, 2.8 in Hamilton, and 4.8 in Portland.
Winds were the strongest in Port Fairy on Tuesday, with south-westerly winds reaching speeds of 63 kilometres an hour at 10am.
Wednesday will be a cold one across the south-west, with areas of morning frost about the ranges predicted and a chance of morning fog.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a medium (60 per cent) chance of showers in the south and slight (20 per cent) chance elsewhere with light west to southwesterly winds.
Overnight temperatures will fall between 1 and 5 with daytime temperatures reaching around 11.
Warrnambool and Port Fairy will see a top of 13 and 80 per cent chance of showers most likely in the afternoon and evening.
Colac will see a maximum of 11, Portland 12, Mortlake 12 and Hamilton 10.
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and southwesterly winds will continue for the remainder of Tuesday.
Areas likely to be affected include the south-west. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
