Attacking midfielder Ryan Bail and striker Clinton Demartin combined for seven goals in the Rangers' 7-1 rout of Ballarat at Jones Oval on Sunday.
Bail, 19, said the pair worked well together.
"I have kicked 15 for the year and Clinton has kicked 12," he said.
"It takes the pressure off when the other person is scoring.
"Clinton was best on ground on the weekend. He's really perfecting his role for the team at the moment."
Warrnambool found itself in a tussle with Ballarat at half-time on Saturday, up 2-1.
But an injury to Ballarat goal keeper Joshua Ellen, who was taken to hospital after hurting his leg, opened the door for Bail and Demartin.
"We ran away with it easy in the second half," Bail said.
"Myself and Clinton kicked a few between us but it was a great team performance."
Warrnambool sits atop the ladder with seven wins, two draws and one loss with 10 games remaining.
The Rangers' offence is proving dangerous - its 45 goals is the second-highest in the 10-team competition - but their defence is just as important.
They've conceded just 13 goals which is the second-lowest in the league.
"Defence has been our key really," Bail, who is studying teaching at university, said.
"We've still conceded the odd goal but our play is starting from the back line, especially with 'Pykey' (coach Cameron Pyke) in goals."
