Detective Sergeant Andy Raven, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said the search warrants were executed after a series of farm burglaries in the Ecklin, Glenfyne, Cobden and Timboon districts.

He said goods believed to be stolen had been recovered including chainsaws, brush cutters and a range of hand power tools such as grinders and drills.

"We've got to two men aged in their 20s and 30s in custody and they are assisting us with our inquiries," he said.

"These warrants were executed after a series of burglaries and thefts from rural farms and sheds committed during the past month.

"It's been very pleasing to recover a significant amount of stolen property."

Detective Sergeant Raven said information received from the public had been crucial in leading to the successful application for the search warrants and the property being recovered.

"We can only do our job to the best of our ability with cooperation from the public," he said.

"Information provided by the public has been a key component of this investigation."

Mid Thursday afternoon and the men were charged and released on bail to appear in Warrnambool court.

They were charged with handling stolen goods, multiple thefts, theft of a vehicle, theft from a vehicle and possessing and using drugs.

Another man was recently charged with another burglary committed at a Nirranda farm.
