The Blues have conceded 309 points this season, with just 39 scored against in the last fortnight.
"Our footy starts with our team defence and we really focus on limiting the opposition's chances," Threlfall said.
"Most sides find it hard to kick a big score against us - it's something we've worked really hard at."

Threlfall was also pleased with Nirranda's forward line in the 20.20 (140) to 4.4 (28) demolition of Russells Creek, as the Blues had 12 individual goal-kickers.
Will Paulin showed off his speed and line-breaking ability in a best on ground performance, while Ben Threlfall top-scored with five goals.
But the Blues mentor said Russells Creek's early pressure was impressive.
"They took it right up to us at certain stages," Threlfall said.
"They've got some really quick and athletic young players."
Nirranda, third on the WDFNL table with seven wins and two losses, takes on sixth-placed Panmure next week.
And while Threlfall said reserves midfielder Jason Lee had put himself into contention for a senior call up, he also looked forward to the return of Jack Primmer and Ratu Inoke.
"We always have cracking games against Panmure," he said.
"Both sides pride themselves on contested footy and I'm expecting the same next week."
Meanwhile, Russells Creek face another huge challenge in the form of Kolora-Noorat.
