Yarding: 71.
There were a total of 71 cattle yarded at the Hamilton fat cattle market; a reduced yarding on last week's market.
In general, the market continued on with recent trends averaging $2.14 per kg overall with good support on heavier quality cattle.
A smaller yarding of bulls were presented, with the best bulls selling for $2.35 per kg - an increase of 5 cents on the last week's market.
The trade cattle presented again showed dearer trends on the good quality trade cattle yarded, with this being consistent with previous markets.
Heavier trade heifers sold at an average of $2.35 per kg with a market top of $2.50 per kg.
Only a handful of bullocks were yarded, selling at an average of $1.85 per kg with a market high of $2.16.
Overall, lighter heifers sold well in Friday's market, with an increase of 10 cents per kg on past markets.
Again a high percentage of the yarding was a good run of cows.
The heavy beef cows continued on from last week's market, selling with strong demand with a market high of $2.40 per kg and the best net per head value of $1596.
There was an increase in the average price for the market, selling at $2.10 per kg.

COLAC CATTLE

Cattle were limited again, with similar numbers as last week, as Colac follows the region's trends of smaller yardings of plain to average quality cattle.
Not all the regular field of buyers were present and those that were, operated in a mostly cheaper market. Too few to quote categories. The very few C muscled vealers made from 225c to 275c, while the yearlings offered today were making from 220c to 275c/kg.
The lighter conditioned yearlings suiting the restockers sold from 200c to 230c/kg.
Finished articles in the grown steer and bullock run was an issue, with C3 and C4 types receiving from 245c to 270c/kg. The heifer portion made from 232c to 263c/kg.
There was a mixture of cows offered, with some good heavy beef cows offered making from 212c to 235c/kg. The middle run of D2 and D3 cows received from 160c to 212c/kg.
D2 type dairy cows were making from 183c to 210c, with the very light D1 and E1 portion making from 75c to 180c/kg.
There were some good B muscled bulls offered today, selling to the usual buying group from 220c to 247c/kg.
