Both teams decided to utilise the interleague bye last weekend as a chance to freshen up their playing groups and to try something different.
The Magpies moved their Tuesday session to a Wednesday and traveled to Geelong to combine their Melbourne and Campderdown-based training groups for the first time this year.
"It was more of a bonding night to get everyone together and basically to change it up," co-coach Neville Swayn said.
"It's a long year from when you start pre-season and it's always good to change things up."
MORE FOOTBALL:
As for the Kangaroos, coach Matt Dunn decided to test his side's competitiveness with a table tennis tournament.
"We took it off the track and went to different venue made it a social night," he said.
"It was a bit of fun with some team events so we were still using the competitiveness to fight for bragging rights, while it helped to freshen up with a weekend off."
When asked about how his side did, Dunn was quick to critique its table tennis skills.
"None of them were any good at playing it," the fourth-year mentor joked.
"They would be best to stick to playing their footy."
Camperdown will be looking to snap its four-game losing streak, while Hamilton is after its fourth win of the season.
